The Parable of the Good Samaritan

The parable of the Good Samaritan challenges us to redefine what it means to be a neighbor. When a man was beaten and left for dead, a Samaritan—someone culturally despised by Jews—was the only one who stopped to help, showing true compassion. Like Woody helping Buzz in Toy Story despite their rivalry, we’re called to love others regardless of differences or inconvenience. Loving God and loving our neighbor are inseparable commands. True compassion crosses cultural boundaries, costs us something, and takes action rather than just feeling sympathy. Our neighbors include anyone in need—coworkers, family, friends, and strangers.
